illar announced the progress of the P1.603-billion project following an inspection Friday.
The almost completed project is a four-lane expressway, spanning 4.1 kilometers beginning at the connection of Subic-Clark-Tarlac-Expressway (SCTEX) and Tarlac-Panganisan-La Union Expressway (TPLEX).
The road project is under the CLLEX Phase 1 Contract Package 1, which also includes the construction of an underpass bridge and two farm passages.
According to Villar, CLLEX Phase 1 is divided into four packages covering the construction of a 30-kilometer expressway which aims to shorten travel time between Tarlac City and Cabanatuan City from 70 minutes to only 20 minutes.
The whole project will traverse the municipalities of La Paz in Tarlac, and Zaragoza and Aliaga in Nueva Ecija.
Villar furthered that the project will provide an alternate route for Daang Maharlika and will decongest the national highway by 48 percent.
It is also expected to help ease traffic in Metro Manila.
The CLLEX Phase 1 is being implemented under a P14.93-billion fund from the Official Development Assistant Fund.
