Residents of Nyandarua County have been cautioned against forging land documents to evade the lengthy process.

Nyandarua and Samburu County Lands’ Registrar Charles Ayienda cautioned of rogue brokers and surveyors who conned residents of land transfer levies only to forge documents to evade paying for the process.

This followed the arrest of a surveyor who had presented some forged Land Control Board documents at the Nyahururu registry in the hope that he would help his client transfer the land from a seller.

Simon Chege, a surveyor based in Ol Kalau was arrested after he turned up at the registry to pick the title deed, and confessed to having downloaded and printed the consent that he signed and stamped on behalf of the Nyandarua Central DCC. Gideon Oyagi.

He said that the documents were delivered to them for transfers but his officers realized that some land control board consent and Shs 500 receipt indicating that he paid for the transfer process for his customer were forged.

The land registrar, however, called on surveyors to maintain modesty during land subdivision to avoid causing chaos to families.
