Today, I am at Lee canyon, which overlooks the ski hill and it is Las Vegas's nearest ski resort.
I am having a day out because I wanted to just getaway on the weekend and get some fresh mountain air!
Today, I am going to talk about my experience of selling products on Amazon. I have listed 4 products on Amazon till now.
And still, have not been able to turn a profit on them. I have probably made some mistakes along the way with the products I have listed
The first product I listed was a cigar glass. It was taken down because it was a patented product, so I had to sell it on eBay.
I was able to sell most of the inventory, but there are still some left. However, I was able to breakeven so, that‘s not too bad.
I also have put up three separate paper-like banners. One of them was delisted because someone claimed that the product was their design.
It wasn’t someone else's design, as it was a random design that I had done.
For this reason, I cannot sell it now.
Right now, the factory from where I purchased the product is selling the products on Amazon themselves.
So, that Chinese company was probably playing a little dirty by throwing in the claim and then starting to sell the product themselves.
I had another paper type of banner product that was selling pretty well, but that too stopped.
Some sellers have opted to put in a lot of money to get all the PPC traffic.
When I check the incognito window and see if I am ranking pm on PPC for the relevant keywords, now I never see my product, hence my sales went down significantly.
The competition is snuffing the competitors by providing the products at cheap prices and spending huge amounts on PPC marketing, which other product owners, like me, cannot afford.
Another one of the products is having a brand name issue.
Maybe, someone turned my listing in or something. I am still talking to Amazon about it, but it has not gone up yet.
Why is it happening?
What I think is that the Chinese manufacturers are getting into the realm of selling the products themselves online.
As the manufacturers are selling the products, they are selling it cheap and using all the tricks in the book, fair or otherwise, to get rid of the competitions.
➡️ Solution
According to me, the only solution is to trademark the products, get them under a brand name.
Still giving up on Amazon will not be right.
It has a lot of competition and is a challenge that I am more than willing to face.
However, it can be a valuable asset.
There is a significant risk involved, as it needs more investment in the beginning.
However, for people who are just getting into online marketing,
I do not recommend the use of Amazon.
It will take a year or maybe more before you make any real profit on the platform.
For someone just starting, it will be much more difficult to cope.

I will start working on several new things this fall after I get my Shopify store.
