FASTag is an electronic toll collection system in India, operated by the National Highway Authority of India (NHAI). It employs Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) technology for making toll payments directly from the prepaid or savings account linked to it or directly toll owner. It is affixed on the windscreen of the vehicle and enables us to drive through toll plazas without stopping for transactions. The tag can be purchased from official tag issuers or participating Banks and if it is linked to a prepaid account, then recharging or top-up can be as per requirement. As per NHAI, the FASTag amount has unlimited validity. 2.5% cashback offers were also provided to promote the use of FASTag for FY 2019-2020. From 1st December 2019 FASTag is mandatory on the National highway. .....................

FASTag is a perfect new-age solution for payment at toll plazas. It is a contactless toll collection system that allows cashless payment using Radio-frequency Identification (RFID) technology. By affixing an active FASTag on your vehicle’s windscreen, you can pass through toll plazas without stopping for physical cash transactions.
Fastag is Promoted by MORTH (Ministry of Road Transport and Highways), NHAI (National Highways Authority of India), IHMCL (Indian Highways Management Company Limited) and NPCI National Payments Corporation of India).
To reduce vehicular traffic at the toll plazas, the Government of India (GOI) has mandated all toll plazas, pan India, to make toll payments electronic by Dec 01, 2019.
With this mandate, all vehicles traveling at the toll plazas will have to mandatorily pay toll charges using FASTag, an RFID (radio frequency identification) enabled tag that automatically deducts the toll fees as your vehicle passes the toll plaza.
