Aung Thiri Market, previously known as Kalagone Zay, ကုလားကုန်းစျေး, is situated at the southern fringe of central Pathein. So many Indians used to live around the area and hence got the name Kalagone Zay, I believe.
Most of the Myanmar shop every day for fresh meats, vegetables and commonly consumed food commodities and the market is very busy with shoppers between 6:30 am and 8:00 am. You can get everything from the market.
The market is not big enough for all the shops inside, you can see lots of shops on both side of Cartman Street.
You will see lots of shoppers, bicycles, motorbikes, trishaws, cars etc, people respect each other and giving ways in the congested road.
