Vitamin K: What forms are best, and where can you get it?

Vitamin K1, K2, and K3 are the main forms of vitamin K.
K1 comes from eating green vegetables, where vitamin K2 comes predominately from fermented foods. Vitamin K3 is synthetic, and not recommended.

About 50% of your daily need for vitamin K comes from the bacteria in the GI tract.

A deficiency of vitamin K can cause a lack of blood clotting. This can be especially dangerous in newborn infants. Vitamin K supplementation is a common practice in hospitals for newborn babies.
