1. Pay Raise Commando: This is the first in a series of LIVE Masterclasses for passed over, highly-driven, top-performers, LIKE YOU, to get that pay raise and/or promotion you are long overdue for, KILL YOUR MONDAY BLUES AND BRING YOUR INNER JOY BACK!
2. Here is the trade-off here: Low production value – VERY HIGH CONTENT VALUE: because we focus on what we do best!
So occasional pixelation and sub-par sound, with some fluctuations in my accent [all of which why we're particular about loading a full CC on the video itself, PLUS notes here below, PLUS a full and neatly-put-together transcript in this link (as it's too long for here, so no, not a trick to get you there – not how we operate) – use them]
Thus, the above, in exchange to non P.C. tough love, to get you to your professional goals, with none of the lovey-dovey kumbaya "just follow your passion" and "just be yourself" B.S. IMHO it's totally worth it. But you do you.
3. Why black-and-white? a. cuz I like it (an Old Hollywood buff), but mostly: b. cuz everybody else is in color.
4. Get your personal BossProblem Busted once you're accepted in our inner Busters circle – more details to come… Meanwhile check out our new website to learn more about us
Here are the 4 biggest DON'Ts immediately after being passed over for a promotion and the pay raise that goes with it OR I guarantee you will mess up your career to a far greater degree than "just" this promotion you didn't get.
1. DO NOT LEAVE!
a. You're upset: So not the time to make life-altering decisions like quitting!
b. You're not that rich that you don't need a salary: Yes, you’ve lost the pay raise, but what about your current salary?
c. Resigning when you are down, will sabotage your chances of landing a good job:
I. You don't make a "sexy" candidate when you are demoralized
II. You won't be able to have an appealing reply to basic questions regarding your previous workplace
III. the more time you're unemployed this situation will worsen. Need proof? Let's do a short thought experiment:
I. Imagine yourself sitting across from the HR recruiter. How would you answer: why did you leave? What was your position there? You've been there that many years with no promotion? How so? What will your ex-boss say about you?
II. Imagine when she actually calls your (ex) boss…
2. DON'T GIVE AN ULTIMATUM
a. you have no wiggle room: You need to have something substantial that the other party wants and can't have otherwise, but you were just passed over…
b. The wise makes an ultimatum ONLY when they are certain they're going to win it! (Or at least the odds are in their favor) And suppose you DO have some "upper hand" = some very unique professional knowledge - under these circumstances, you COULD give an ultimatum and win it, because you're harder to replace. BUT even then, it will come back to bite you with TWO DIFFERENT ADDITIONAL problems:
c. Your boss can't guarantee when the next opportunity for you will come up because they doesn't know
d. They will hate you till the day you die! Nobody likes being pushed over, all the more so by a subordinate.
3. DON'T BE PASSIVE AGGRESSIVE !
People who understand they should not leave (although they want to), and they understand they should not give an ultimatum (although they want to), resort to being insufferable instead! This will probably get you "sacked" in the next round of "downsizing", and rightfully so.
4. DON'T BE QUICK TO BLAME IT ON YOUR IDIOT BOSS OR YOU EFFED UP COMPANY!
Maybe they are indeed exactly as you say, but as long as you choose to work there, you need to figure out how to win in those very circumstances! And for that you need a long hard reality check, and a ton of introspection, long before casting the blame elsewhere, and you need the tools and the best practices: which is exactly what this channel will teach you, so subscribe – like – notifications bell – you know the drill…
A bonus "don't", for women only:
5. DON'T CRY AT THE OFFICE!
Whatever it was that got you passed over for, crying, will just prove that point and solidify it in their minds, and it will be very hard to recover from.
I can elaborate on this topic as well any other, in a separate video, if you wish, so let me know, and also: what other topics you'd like me to cover that have to do with Busting your BossProblem, especially in regard to how to get a promotion and / or a pay raise.
IF YOU FIND THIS VIDEO HELPFUL AND YOU WANT MORE: SUBSCRIBE and give a THUMBS UP because you know that's the way the algorithm works, or I'm DOOMED – so subscribe!
And until next time: get back to work! I can't get you that promotion and pay raise, if you don't actually do the job…
