After voting in favour of the Citizenship (Amendment) Bill in Lok Sabha, Shiv Sena MP Sanjay Raut, on Wednesday, 11 December, said his part has decided to boycott voting in Rajya Sabha.
After a six-hour debate, 124 members of the Rajya Sabha voted against sending the Bill to a select committee.
Making his final remarks on the debate, Home Minister Amit Shah said the Bill does not snatch anyone's Indian citizenship, and that Indian Muslims "have no need to fear or worry".
