Flags and Photographs Set Alight Activists Protesting Police Brutality in Catalonia Hundreds of activists marched against police brutality in Barcelona on Saturday, in a rally organised by pro-independence pressure group Committees for the Defense of the Republic (CDR).

The rally convened in Plaza Universidad, with protesters marching towards La rambla and reaching Plaza Sant Jaume, the City Hall of Barcelona's headquarters.

Activists, who demanded that Minister of the Interior of the Generalitat de Catalunya Miquel Buch step down, could be seen burning photos of those they consider responsible for alleged police repression in recent weeks. Among these, were Spain's acting Interior Minister Fernando Grande-Marlaska, Chief commissioner of Catalonia's Mossos d'Esquadra police force Eduard Sallent and socialist politician Miquel Iceta.
