AUSTIN POLICE TO PAY $75K IN EXCESSIVE FORCE LAWSUIT AUSTIN TAXPAYERS HIT WITH $75K SETTLEMENT: Despite being acquitted on abuse of power charges, the city has agreed to pay up in a lawsuit filed by a man arrested and tased during a 2018 arrest. The settlement ends 14 months of litigation over allegations the officers falsely arrested, shocked, then lied about what really happened.
