I have a history of farming in my family, I have raised my children here and in 2001 we got sheep and I started raising sheep with my children. They just became such an inspiring and practical small animal to raise that I couldn't believe I hadn't been raising them my entire life.
Every single one of them and if i name them there are over 100, has a role in the farm and a place in my heart.
I think farming is so conducive to supporting creativity and for me its great, its a mix of hard work and problem solving, yet i get to be creative in all these ways with the fiber, with the wool, with the breeds now too. I had all this white wool, wanting to not hurt the earth as much as I can, I learned quickly about natural dying, the world is my oyster as far as color goes. I am living my dream, I am dreaming every day of new things, and I just feel like, I just dont feel like I ever have to stop dreaming.
