Mysterious smoke seen on planet Mars despite fire not able to burn on the planet.
Astronomers after discovering this have been observing the 900-mile cloud for more than a month.
According to the European Space Agency (ESA), it has remained in place over Arsia Mons, a volcano near the Martian equator.
Arsia Mons has been extinct for around 50million years and no volcanic activity is producing the cloud but the cloud appears to billow from the extinct volcano Arsia Mons
On Mars there is very little oxygen in the thin atmosphere, which is mostly carbon dioxide which makes fire impossible to burn on it.
As mentioned earlier in the video, the Mars Express Orbiter Spacecraft and its predecessors have spotted similar clouds at least three times before.
ESA boffins reckon the formed cloud contains water ice and has been created by wind flowing along the side of the 12-mile-high, 150-mile-wide volcano.
The cloud it noticed by scientists to grows over the course of the morning, stretching westwards along the equator for up to 930 miles.
The same Mars Express orbiter has once detected what could be a massive underground lake of liquid water, raising hopes it could sustain life.
