Alex Eskin: 2020 Breakthrough Prize in Mathematics Winner This year’s the Breakthrough Prize in Mathematics goes to Alex Eskin of the University of Chicago. The prize rewards his work in the dynamics and geometry of moduli spaces of Abelian differentials. In collaboration with Maryam Mirzakhani, who passed away in 2017, he proved the “magic wand theorem” and provided powerful new tools for approaching many problems in the field. Learn more at
