To protect and serve: A dog with a job

For Layla there is no such thing as a dog day afternoon when working with her handler, Officer Russell Johnson Jr. at UNLPD.

Unlike the other officers, Johnson gets to bring man’s best friend with him to work everyday, but while it looks like they are playing, their job is anything but fun and games.

Whether it’s football, basketball or volleyball season, you can expect to see this duo on the job, ready to detect and find any possible explosives that could pose a potential threat to the safety of husker event goers.
