Tahoe Rim Trail Association Work Trip at Marlette Lake—Day 1

Today I set out with my friend Jamee on a multi-day trail maintenance work trip as a volunteer for the Tahoe Rim Trail Association. We meet up with the rest of the trail crew at Spooner Lake, then caravan into the backcountry in 4WD vehicles up to Marlette Peak Campground on the east side of Lake Tahoe. There we set up camp, enjoy a lavish backcountry dinner, chat around the campfire, then night-hike up a nearby mountain to watch the Fourth of July fireworks around the lake.
