How do we balance justice and compassion together? On one hand, we feel that justice must be done, the wrongs must be righted, so that the innocent and the poor will not suffer the injustices of those who cheat, destroy property, slander the character of others, and even kill. On the other hand, we are called to be compassionate, forgiving and tolerant of the sins of others, not taking revenge but to seek their conversion and repentance. Obviously, compassion does not and should not lead to greater injustice to those who have already suffered from the violations of others.
