Giggs backs Bale to put aside Real Madrid woes and inspire Wales

Giggs backs Bale to put aside Real Madrid woes and inspire Wales Ryan Giggs believes Gareth Bale will shake off his Real Madrid rustiness in time for Wales' vital Euro qualifier against Hungary in Budapest on Tuesday. Bale started slowly in the defeat by Croatia before showing more dynamism in the second half. Giggs will be relying on Bale, 29, in a match Wales cannot afford to lose.'It was his first game in six weeks,' said Giggs after Saturday's 2-1 loss in Osijek.  'Gareth grew into the game, which is understandable. I was happy with his performance, he had a couple of chances. 'On another day he scores maybe one or two with the free-kick. Hopefully he is saving it up. A lot of teams will stop him any way they can. It is up to us to find a way round it. He is used to it.'Giggs said he will continue to assess fitness levels before making a final call on selection but David Brooks is expected to start after scoring as a substitute against Croatia. He had a niggling ankle issue. Ethan Ampadu, Chelsea's prodigious 18-year-old midfielder, is still managing a back problem but Giggs suggested he will begin the game in Budapest.'I realise after the impact they made, a lot of fans are saying why didn't I start them,' said Giggs. 'Ethan has not started a game for six months and Brooks didn't end the season.'
