How inclusive is the fashion industry?
-They're trying. But huge brands have a long way to go.
-I think it's more "diverse" than it was but as we see with a lot of these mistakes that have been happening, or incidents that have been happening recently, I don't feel like it's very inclusive, especially behind the scenes.
-The fashion industry is getting more inclusive but there are still many boundaries.
What have brands done to become more inclusive?
-I feel like a lot of brands are tryna be very diverse now, but diversity is just a kind of buzzword and there's very little action behind it.
Do brands set an unrealistic standard of beauty?
-Humans, we're all like different forms, shapes and sizes but your clothing style that you've obviously made a huge campaign about and said "oh, this is what- this is diverse and we're making everyone included in this". But it's not showing in stores, or it's not showing out and about.
-Every brand is showing something different, and it's what I like about fashion nowadays, it's like there is not just one type of beauty.
Difference between diversity and inclusion?
-I feel like diversity is something that is, right now is just spoken like "oh yeah, we are very diverse, like diverse" and then inclusion is actually putting in the work.
-Inclusion really comes from giving people, from different backgrounds opportunities within the business.
Gucci and Prada have faced a lot of controversy lately. What's up with that?
-I think they just need attention.
-It's either they're doing it for a reaction or that they're so systematically blind to this stuff.
-We're talking about a brand, a team, lots of people. So it's like, how can you make such a mistake?
-If you're not gonna be diverse behind the scenes, at least have people who are more culturally aware.
How much is a fashion designer to blame for?
-The designer is like the key cause they're the one who is meant to do the research, they're the one with the inspiration. You're the base, the foundation so you should get your source right before you start putting it out there.

-Native Americans are like a very marginalised people. People who have gone through a lot in history and have had a lot stolen from them and this just kinda is like a continuation of that really.
-You've just gone and taken something that looks beautiful. Like "oh yeah, you can wear it as as fashion".
-As little as it may seem, it's a big deal.
Gucci Turbans at AW18
-I'm like on the fence about this one, I'm not gonna lie. Maybe they could've used more people from the actual culture in the show.
[bullsh**t]
-People have stories where they've- they are Sikh and they've worn their turbans out. They've been abused, being looked at. That's their real life and being worn by someone that isn't Sikh and someone that doesn't know anything about the culture.
-I would see it like a headdress so to me, it's not offensive.
Dior Cruise Collection '19
-It's not offensive to me. You can see the inspiration but it's more of an aesthetic thing. With cultural appropriation it's difficult where the line is.
-I think it's good to take influence from other cultures if you're not fully ripping it off. Maybe they could've just used a Mexican model.
Gucci Balaclava

[bullsh**t]
-That's a cry for help.
-This has got to be-
[bullsh**t]
a publicity stunt. It has to be.
[inaudible]
-That's like... "somebody talk about me"
-A product has to go past numerous checks. I don't believe that there's this many uncultured people who were just like "yeah, it's fine"
Stella McCartney SS18
[bullsh**t]
-Stella McCartney's collection was SO WEAK.
-Cultures are rich and full of like, things that should inspire. But just use some African models. There's loads out there!
-It's got like so much meaning into like, different places, different parts of the world. Doing it and not even including a black model to actually wear this with pride. What are you doing? *laughs* Just weak.
Dolce & Gabbana Chinese Campaign
-I can see why people see this image as offensive. But mainly because of his (Stefano Gabbana) reputation. When we talk about cultural appropriation you also have to consider the reputation of the brand and the context.
