Arctic Base: a single-player episode for Quake II by Lari Muuriaisniemi (CryptR). Here's a "look-through" of this level, using the "plow-through" method to clear out enemies. Unfortunately this level has such incredibly poor and unreasonable gameplay it simply isn't worth the trouble and frustration to attempt to play through properly. (I've played through "correctly" in the past, but it's a waste of time and effort.) Doubly unfortunate, because the level is otherwise absolutely worth seeing: it has especially well-done lighting and new textures lending the snowy/icy base theme. The author's boasting about this in the documentation isn't in error. The layout is especially good, with really neat use and placement of windows, decorations outside the playable areas and other setpieces. To me it looks like an utter lack of playtesting led to this. The code "D" in my master list and blacklisting end up being of no consequence. Brilliant but failed.
