How Do Individuals Get Solar in a Strata Community?

How Do Individuals Get Solar in a Strata Community? are your strata Electricity Retailer and Solar specialists based in Queensland, Australia.

In this video, Ben Chester from LPE shares some insight into the ways that individual lot owners can access solar power installation in a strata or high rise community.

One of the biggest questions that we get as an electricity retailer servicing strata communities comes from individual owners or occupants on how they get solar installed for their use on their lot.

The fact is that Solar in Strata Communities can be a complex issue.
Strata communities are varied with regard to their ability to accommodate solar on the roof and for the connection to individual lots.

The greatest challenge is the body corporate approvals process as although the roof is above your head it is not technically owned by the lot owner but is body corporate property.

This being said, most body corporates in this situation will accommodate one for one solar installation on lots.

Accessing solar in a larger high rise or multi-story buildings is much more complex. Most buildings have limited roof space which is usually taken up with plant equipment and is generally inaccessible for a normal solar installation.

The cost of wiring into a switch room inside these large buildings can be extremely cost inhibitive, and usually can make an individual solar plant not viable.
LPE have a solar solution that can allow a single solar plant to provide solar to all lots within a building that can overcome access and maintenance issues for the owner and the Body Corporate.
