Harvard sacrifices dean to appease absurd protests

Harvard sacrifices dean to appease absurd protests Harvard University just caved to absurd student complaints, axing law prof Ronald Sullivan as faculty dean of Winthrop House. The gripe: He agreed to serve as a lawyer for Harvey Weinstein.  Yes, Harvey is gross, but Sullivan built a career defending controversial clients. Students at one of the nation’s top universities should understand that even “bad people” have a right to legal representation.  “Faculty dean” is what Harvard calls professors put in charge of residential dorms (which Harvard calls “houses”: the special lingo is part of the mystique, or something). The social-justice warriors claim that letting a Weinstein lawyer oversee living areas is “triggering” or somesuch PC sin.  And the school bought it: Harvard College Dean Rakesh Kjurana announced that Sullivan and his wife won’t be renewed for Winthrop House after their term ends June 30, citing “numerous” and “serious” concerns about the “climate” at the dorm.  The couple were Harvard’s first black faculty deans when they started in 2009. Oh, and Sullivan is no longer even on Weinstein’s team: The trial date conflicted with his Harvard responsibilities.  Neither the whiners nor Harvard cared. Pretty sad for a school whose motto is “Truth.”
