Presented to the fair attended by more than 450 companies from the DPRK, China, Russia, Pakistan, Poland and other countries and regions were products made on the basis of advanced science and technology in various fields including metal, electronics, machinery, building materials, transport, public health, light industry and food and consumer goods industry.
Present at the opening ceremony were Ri Ryong Nam, vice-premier of the Cabinet, Kim Yong Jae, minister of External Economic Relations, Kim Chol Hun, vice-chairman of the Pyongyang City People's Committee, officials in the fields of economy and trade, delegations of different countries and regions and staff members of foreign embassies here.
An opening address was made by Pak Ung Sik, director of the Korean International Exhibition Corporation, to be followed by a congratulatory speech by O Ryong Chol, vice-minister of External Economic Relations.
After the end of the ceremony the participants looked round the exhibition hall.
The fair will last until May 24.
